MotoGP BREAKING NEWS: Andrea Iannone banned for 4 years

Andrea Iannone has been banned from racing for 4 years after being found guilty by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Andrea Iannone was suspended from racing after testing positive for an anabolic steroid at the Sepang Grand Prix in 2019, he then submitted a B sample to try and prove his innocence, however, this was also positive.

Since then, he was banned from racing for 18 months but appealed this decision as he felt it was unfair as he consumed this steroid from ‘contaminated meat,’ the appeal was submitted through the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Whilst he was appealing this, the World Anti-Doping Agency felt he was guilty and wanted the ban extending to 4 years.

Since then, Iannone has held various trials including one in October which lasted an exhausting 11 hours!

However, as he was unable to prove his innocence in court, he has been banned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for 4 years and not the original 18 months, putting an end to his MotoGP career.

This opens the gates for Aprilia to hire a new rider for 2021 with rumours circulating of Jorge Lorenzo making a racing return with the factory.
