MotoGP: Alex Marquez looking for first race win

Alex Marquez has his sights set on a MotoGP class win following his back to back podiums at Le Mans and Aragon.

Alex Marquez has managed to come out of nowhere and score two majorly unexpected podiums on the Repsol Honda, firstly in the wet, then in the dry a week later, silencing everyone who thought it would be a while until we saw a dry podium, even Marquez himself though it was not possible.

We all learned a valuable lesson at Aragon and Le Mans, never ever prejudge a MotoGP race, never think you know what will happen and write the script before it is written because you know it will be torn to shreds right in front of your eyes, no one could have expected a season without Marc Marquez with his little brother taking the reigns for Honda, yet here we are.

It cannot be forgotten that Alex Marquez is a Moto3 and Moto2 World Champion, therefore has the fighting spirit which you need to be a champion and like any motorcycle racer, Marquez wants more, hoping to improve on these results and be the 8th different winner in 2020.

He has the benefit of it being a double race weekend with back-to-back races at the same track, meaning the information gathered last weekend can be used in the coming weekend to be able to go even faster in the next race at the Teruel round.

Speaking ahead of this weekend Alex said, “I’m looking forward to riding again at Aragon after a strong weekend last time. We will really need to work hard to keep at the front because I think many other riders will be able to make a step, like I have done in the past, in the second race. 

“The goal remains the same: to work on our plan and try to make another step in qualifying. We have now been able to get into Q2 but there’s still work to do. If we can continue in the way we have been going these past races I will be very happy.”

He could well and truly be the next MotoGP winner but there is one man fighting to win his first race since 2017, Joan Mir.
