MotoGP Catalunya: Fabio Quartararo heads FP1

Fabio Quartararo is looking to make a comeback after last race weekends frustrations.

Following last weekends penalty which costed him a podium, Fabio Quartararo has come back and set the pace in FP1 with a time of 1:40.431 which was a massive 0.430 faster than second-placed Andrea Dovizioso. Joan Mir was the third placed man, he is looking to improve his 1 lap pace this weekend after qualifying in P11 last time out at Misano, giving him more work to do to finish in P2, saying he could have fought for the victory if he had qualified higher.

Last race winner Maverick Vinales finished the session in P4, once again Vinales will be concentrating on his Sunday pace and feeling with only 1 point separating him from championship leader Andrea Dovizioso. He is joined by Aleix Espargaro in P5, the Aprilia looking stronger this weekend at Aleix’s home race.

Franco Morbidelli sits in P6, and is the third fastest Yamaha with all 4 of them in the top 8, 0.097 behind the Italian is Alex Rins who is ahead of Valentino Rossi, the fourth fastest Yamaha.

Massive shout out to Cal Crutchlow in P9, returning from missing both Misano races due to surgery complications, just to slip on Wednesday and damage his ankle ligaments, the British rider will be in a lot of pain.

Miguel Oliveira rounded off the top 10 as the fastest KTM 1.161 from P10.
