MotoGP: Avintia future potentially on the line with VR46 or Leopard to replace
Rumours have begun to float around saying that the Avintia team may not be around much longer.
A rumour reported by GPOne.com has said that Avintia could leave the MotoGP class with their future majorly uncertain for the time being, despite scoring their first MotoGP podium this season with Johann Zarco.
There is no solid reason for why the Ducati supported team would want to leave the paddock but with their seats holding a lot of value, they could choose to cash in.
Enea Bastianini has signed for Ducati for 2021 and the rider is supported by the Leopard Energy Drink but does not show their logos on his helmet, therefore this would be a fantastic oppourtunity for Leopard to step in and make their mark on the MotoGP class, the same way they have in Moto3.
There is another twist in the tale though, Luca Marini, the Italian currently leads the Moto2 standings and has his eye on a MotoGP seat, he would be a fantastic replacement for Tito Rabat if the Avintia-signed rider was to leave the class.
It is no secret that the VR46 squad have had their eyes on a MotoGP team and hypothetically, having two Italian riders in their team would be a great oppourtunity for them, especially given that Marini is the half-brother of Valentino Rossi.
