MotoGP: Francesco Bagnaia, itching to ride again

Francesco Bagnaia was having the dream MotoGP season until he got injured at Brno, ruining his season.

At the Brno race weekend, following from the race before where he nearly secured his maiden MotoGP podium before a mechanical issue ruined his race, Francesco Bagnaia fractured his knee, ruling him out of three races, however, is expected to return at Misano.

Francesco Bagnaia’s Ducati future has been damaged by his lack of track time, he is currently locked in a contract battle with Johann Zarco for the 2021 factory Ducati seat, however, has not been able to prove his worth due to his injury. Some good news for the Italian is that he has extended his contract for two years with Ducati, placing him in a good position for 2021 and 2022 if Zarco was to sign for factory Ducati and not succeed.

Being a member of the VR46 riders academy means he has access to training facilities such as the ranch, but has opted out of this due to the risk it carries with injuring himself again.

When Bagnaia returns, you can expect to be on a full charge to take back what is his, a MotoGP class podium, savagely ripped from his clutches at Jerez when his Ducati failed him. He will be doing all he can to prove that he deserves the Factory seat over Johann Zarco, we looked into the pros and cons of both riders here.
