MotoGP Aragon GP – Preview, Session Times and Where to Watch?

MotoGP returns to the Aragon circuit in Spain after a year away from the circuit. In this article, you will be able to find all the session times and where you can watch the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix this weekend.

The Aragon Circuit

16 turns make up this more modern MotoGP circuit, 10 to the left, 6 to the right. The circuit is five kilometres long and has some of the longer straights on the MotoGP grid, particularly the straight coming after Turn 15, down to the tough and slow left-hander of Turn 16.

The overtaking hotspots will likely be at Turn 1, with Turn 16 allowing riders to take different racing lines onto the home straight, before reaching the medium-speed left-hand first corner which allows for riders to slip up the inside of one another, casting the other rider off the racing line for Turn 2.

More overtaking zones will likely present themselves at Turns 4 and 5, both left-handers with riders trail-braking into Turn 4, leading to an even tighter Turn 5. Most corners in the middle sections of the circuit are narrower and therefore more difficult to overtake at, the downhill chicane of Turns 8 and 9 will be particularly difficult to navigate.

Bagnaia’s impressive form, can Jorge Martin catch up?

With Francesco Bagnaia taking victory four times in the last five races, Bagnaia has managed to take the lead in the championship as the reigning champion seeks further championship glory. Jorge Martin has seemingly struggled to stay in front of Bagnaia, particularly last time out in Austria, where Bagnaia’s Factory Ducati Desmosedici GP24 seemed more competent than Martin’s motorcycle in almost every aspect. Corner entry, corner exit, braking – Bagnaia seemed unstoppable during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.

However, Martin has previously challenged Bagnaia in the championship all the way down to the wire just last season, and with Martin in Aragon, one of his home circuits, he will certainly want to close the gap to Bagnaia in the championship.

Can Pedro Acosta bounce back?

Spaniard Pedro Acosta will be racing in another home Grand Prix this weekend at Aragon, doing well in previous home races at Jerez and Catalunya, taking a Sprint Podium in Jerez among a few other podiums in both Sprint races and Grands Prix earlier this year. However, the young Spaniard has endured a few difficult weekends recently, unable to put his Red Bull GasGas Tech3 KTM higher than seventh in recent races.

Acosta will certainly want to regain his previous form from the beginning of the season, as he intends on closing down the gap in the championship between himself and future teammate Brad Binder, in the bid to become KTM’s most successful rider of the season.
