Moto2 Misano FP2: Home hero Marco Bezzecchi leads FP2
Marco Bezzecchi was the fastest man in the FP2 Moto2 session.
Home hero Marco Bezzecchi showed why he is the favourite for this weekends MisanoGP leading the way in the FP2 session in wet conditions, as we all know he has spun countless laps around the track since joining the VR46 Riders Academy and will of course have an advantage over his competitors, but there’s not much use having knowledge if you can’t back it up with a result and Bezzecchi did exactly that leading the way by 0.149 seconds to Augusto Fernandez in second place.
Finishing up in third is Somkiat Chantra who is excelling in the tricky wet conditions after being used to them in Thailand, he was on for a P1 laptime -0.202 seconds under Bezzecchi’s time in sector two before he was violently ejected from his Kalex Moto2 machine into the gravel trap, thankfully was OK and will ride tomorrow, he led Xavi Vierge and Sam Lowes.
Niccolo Bulega put his knowledge of the track to the test today and finished up in sixth, he has had a lot of experience here over the years thanks to his involvement with VR46 back in the day, he finished just 0.056 seconds faster than ‘El Pescao’ Hafizh Syahrin who of course has gone well in the wet because why wouldn’t he? The rain master of Moto2.
Rounding out the top 10 was Jake Dixon who finished behind Joe Roberts and Stefano Manzi with Barry Baltus taking a seriously impressive P11, the Belgian rookie proving his talents here in Misano.
Further down the order there were some surprises with Aron Canet in P18, Remy Gardner in P22 and Raul Fernandez in P24.
