Moto3 Austria FP1: Darryn Binder leads highly competitive session

Darryn Binder opens the weekend in P1 after a strong FP1.

Darryn Binder led the way in the Moto3 session in Austria, the South African produced a stunning display last weekend battling his way through the field to P6 with race pace as fast as the winners, he’s started this weekend in fine form leading FP1 0.105 seconds ahead of last-time podium finisher Romano Fenati. The top six were split by a mere 0.201 seconds with Fenati in P2 and Nepa in P6 split by only 0.096 seconds, P2 to P6 all ‘KTM’s’ may we add with Acosta in third place.

Styrian Poleman Deniz Oncu finished in fourth place ahead of Izan Guevara on the Gas Gas, the Aspar Moto3 rookie was only 0.003 seconds faster than Nepa with the field showing truly how strong and competitive it is these days.

Italian Dennis Foggia finished in seventh place, the Italian continued his streak last weekend of either scoring 0 points or a podium, the most consistently inconsistent rider ever, he led Sergio Garcia who went head to head with Pedro Acosta last week with the pair pushing one another that hard that they gained a 15 second lead on the field, Garcia crashing and still finishing in second place. John McPhee and Ayumu Sasaki rounded out the top 10.
