Moto3 Styria FP2: Darryn Binder leads Petronas 1-2

Darryn Binder was the quickest rider in the Moto3 FP2 session.

Darryn Binder led the Moto3 grid in the FP2 session as the wet weather came in to try and spoil the proceedings in the final few minutes, of course for many riders including Darryn Binder it wasn’t an issue, opting to stay out and continue to lap in the latter stages of the session. Binder led his teammate John McPhee by a tiny 0.040 seconds with Sergio Garcia 0.057 behind, very reminiscent of the FP1 session this morning where we saw four riders within 0.100 seconds of Garcia in P1, Moto3 proving to be closer than ever with 22 riders within one second.

Romano Fenati came home in P4 leading an Italian quartet (no singing involved though sadly) consisting of Dennis Foggia, Andrea Migno and Niccolo Antonelli, all either current or ex-VR46 riders academy riders separated by less than 0.200 seconds.

Jaume Masia finished in P8 ahead of Filip Salac who returns to the PrustelGP team following his split with the Snipers Team, obviously Salac is replacing the sadly missed Jason Dupasquier who lost his life earlier this year, given Salac’s friendship with Jason there is no better tribute than this with Filip running a #50 on his bum patch also.

Rookie trio Izan Guevara, Pedro Acosta and Adrian Fernandez finished together in P10, P11 and P12 respectively with Acosta the last rider within 0.500 seconds of P1 in P11, the competitiveness of the class shining through once again.

Further down the order we see Xavier Artigas in P15, Riccardo Rossi in P17, replacement rider David Salvador in P21 within 1 second of P1 and Jeremy Alcoba in P22.
