Moto2: John Hopkins incredibly positive about Cameron Beaubier

John Hopkins will act as Cameron Beaubier’s rider mentor for the 2021 Moto2 season as Beaubier steps over to Moto2.

John Hopkins feels that 5 x MotoAmerica champion Cameron Beaubier, who moves to the Moto2 class for 2021 with the American Racing Team, has what it takes to be fast in 2021 in a completely new class for the rider.

Cameron Beaubier is undoubtedly fast, however, has been criticised during his career for remaining in the national MotoAmerica championship, racking up 5 Superbike titles to his name during these seasons, even beating 2010 Moto2 champion Toni Elias to the title multiple times.

The teams intention is to bring more American riders to the world championship, this includes their American Racing Academy over in the states plus their various other ventures which are aiding the growth of American Talent from grassroots up to the MotoGP world championship.

The team has a lot planned for the future and the signing is just the first step, a step that rider coach John Hopkins is incredibly excited for saying, “I am really really excited about it, when I partnered with Eitan (team owner), the whole intention was to formulate a plan to get more Americans into the world championship using the American Racing Team as the platform.

When the opportunity for Cameron came about to come over, he [Cameron] jumped on it.

It was the perfect opportunity and I am very excited about it, it will be a challenge, it’s a new bike for him, Moto2 is one of the most competitive championships in the entire world, half a second can make a huge difference. It will be tough but he has the talent to do well and succeed.”

We all know how fast Cameron can be and we are sure he will perform.

We spoke to him about the upcoming season which you can read here.
