MotoGP: Alex Rins: “I have struggled a lot this season”
Alex Rins stood on the podium for the first time in 13 months at Catalunya, struggling a lot since his crash at Jerez,
Since his win at Silverstone, Alex Rins has not stood on a MotoGP podium, following his injury at Jerez, he has struggled a lot during the season. His shoulder injury has contributed to a lot of fatigue during races meaning he is exhausted by the end of the races and is unable to make the passes he normally would.
However, at Catalunya, it was a different story for the Spaniard, running a consistent race with fast lap times, eventually cutting his way through the pack to finish on the podium. Elated after the race.
“It’s been a while since I was on the podium, but I am happy for this podium I have struggled a lot this season,” Said Rins.
“It’s been hard for me, in my head I don’t feel pain, but on the bike, I am very fatigued after 4/5 laps, we have worked so hard to be at 100%.” Confirming his problems with his injury are causing fatigue issues.
It is also noted that Suzuki have been struggling in qualifying, not being able to start consistently in the top is damaging their season but they are working towards this, “We struggle in qualifying but are very fast inthe end of the race, we are fully motivated and will do our best to be strong at Le Mans and qualify well.”
Let’s hope Alex Rins can keep up this bout of form and help his teammate beat Fabio Quartararo who Suzuki will be wanting to beat to win the title.
