Valentino Rossi is expected to be announced at Catalunya following the signing of a contract with the Petronas SRT team.
The Race are reporting that Valentino Rossi has signed a deal with the Petronas SRT team for the 2021 season after contract terms were ironed out.
The announcement has kept many fans waiting in bated breath, wondering when and if it will be announced. Rumours of retirement for Rossi have circulated as well as rumours of Dovizioso signing for the team.
However, it is known that Rossi has put pen to paper, signing with the team for the 2021 season on a satellite Yamaha with full Yamaha support alongside VR46 Riders Academy member Franco Morbidelli.
The move will see Rossi move away from the factory Yamaha team which he has represented since 2004, barring two years at Ducati in 2011 and 2012.
Spending two weeks at Misano, a track 10km from Rossi’s home will have been perfect for Petronas, Yamaha and Rossi to hammer out the last of the contract terms for the one-year deal with the 3 x Race Winning team.
It is understood that some of Rossi and Quartararo’s team members will swap places, with Rossi keen to keep his loyal mechanics and technicians working by his side.
