Race 2 at the Teruel WSBK round was a ferocious battle with Rea the winner.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi had the race of his life today battling with five-time champion Jonathan Rea, holding him off corner after corner, impressing with his race craft throughout the race, Rea, however, was strong at turn 6 lap after lap and eventually capitalised on this strength to overtake here and win the race.
Scott Redding started the race strongly, overtaking Rea on lap one for the lead, however, slowly but surely Rea and Rinaldi caught Redding and a battle ensued with the trio swapping places corner after corner, truly ‘edge of your seat’ action.
Eventually, Redding faded to third using the SCX tyre which at the post-race interview Redding confirmed he had run out of rubber by the end of the race.
Alvaro Bautista held a strong fourth place in the race before crashing out giving Chaz Davies the place, Davies then also crashed out of the race, promoting Leon Haslam to fourth who eventually managed to take his best result on the Honda in 2020.
Alex Lowes has been racing ill all weekend, yet still pulled off a fantastic fifth place ahead of ex-teammate Michael van der Mark who started the race in 12th place.
6th to 10th place was made up of all Yamaha riders, Van der Mark was sixth place ahead of teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu in seventh, next was Ten Kate privateer Loris Baz with the two GRT Yamaha boys rounding off the top 10 with Caricasulo then Gerloff in P10.
