MotoGP – Dovizioso: “The KTM is a strange motorcycle”

Dovizioso had some interesting comments regarding the KTM when asked about their motorcycle and how it performs.

It is safe to say that Andrea Dovizioso is impressed by the KTM with their steel frame, they have dominated headlines this season following their win at Brno and Miguel Oliveira winning in Austria with Pol Espargaro on the podium.

The KTM motorcycle has left Dovizioso intrigued and impressed given the time it has taken for KTM to arrive at the top step in MotoGP, when asked about KTM and their performance Dovizioso said, “You [KTM] have improved a lot, making such a step in the MotoGP class is not easy, from the outside, it’s a strange motorcycle.” Commented Dovizioso, which is correct, KTM are adamant about their steel frame which many people have said is unconventional, but KTM have proven this can work.

“You can accelerate very early, which is different for them than for everyone else [I have] no idea why.” Continued Dovizioso. “It’s hard to understand this bike at all. Binder drives like a Moto2 machine and is very fast. Pol drives extremely aggressively and is usually extremely fast. Therefore it is difficult to understand what strengths and weaknesses this motorcycle has.” Finished the three-time MotoGP runner up.

Dovizioso recently announced he would be leaving Ducati after an 8-season relationship, could he be eyeing up KTM as his next move in a private team?
