MotoGP COTA FP3: Jack Miller aiming for pole position
Jack Miller makes his intentions known in FP3 leading by nearly seven-tenths.
Jack Miller pulled out a stunning lap time in FP3 to make a point that he is aiming for pole position later today after somehow gaining more than half a second in the first sector to finish the session a monumental 0.679 seconds faster than Takaaki Nakagami in second place who very nearly crashed on a fast lap aiming to improve his time, despite this he blasted his way to a strong second place behind the untouchable Jack Miller who doesn’t seem to care about the bumps one bit.
2019 winner Alex Rins finished in a strong third leading Marc Marquez who will be aiming to add another win to his record here at COTA, however with Jack Miller as strong as he is he’s going to have his work cut out for him, in fifth place was Johann Zarco who also seems to be riding around the issues despite his recent arm pump surgery.
In sixth place is Fabio Quartararo who makes his way into Q2 but isn’t enjoying the USA lifestyle too much at the moment with jet lag screwing him up a little, plus is struggling to get to grips with his Yamaha this weekend and he’s not the only Yamaha not enjoying the track this weekend with Morbidelli the next fastest Yamaha in P14, just behind Fabio was Pol Espargaro then Brad Binder who is another rider who seemingly can ride around any issues with a bumpy track not hindering him too much taking a Q2 spot ahead of the Ducati pairing of Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin in the last Q2 spot of P10.
Many big names struggled to make their way into a direct Q2 spot and must go via Q1 and earn their place by grafting it out, these riders include Miguel Oliveira, Joan Mir, Enea Bastianini and Aleix Espargaro.
