Moto2 Jerez Qualifying: Remy Gardner on pole with the lap record
Remy Gardner takes pole position in Moto2.
Remy Gardner was the Moto2 pole man setting the time in his first flying lap of the session, Gardner is massively impressing this year with a 100% podium record so far, last time he took a Moto2 pole position was Portimao 2020 where he won the next day. There is no doubt he will be battling for the win tomorrow barring some bad luck. He is joined by a duo of Italians on the front row with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi up there with the Australian rider.
Fabio Di Giannantonio takes a front row here in Jerez and will be doing his all to stand on the podium tomorrow and kick start what could be a very solid title charge for the Gresini team, another rider aiming to charge for the title is Marco Bezzecchi, Bezzecchi has not had the start to the season he expected and is yet to stand on the podium but this front row start is exactly what he will have been looking for.
Leading row two is Gardner’s teammate and last time winner Raul Fernandez who surprised everyone with a rookie race win in Portimao, starting from fourth behind his teammate isn’t the worst thing in the world provided he can slip past by the first corner and battle his way to the top, he is just ahead of Sam Lowes who suffered a crash late into the session ending his 100% pole record of 2020 and will start from P5 ahead of Xavi Vierge.
Lowes’ teammate Augusto Fernandez heads row three and has historically performed very well at Jerez so it’ll be interesting to see how he does, he is joined by Joe Roberts and Ai Ogura on row three. Jake Dixon rounds off the top 10 with a crash but will be hoping to make up some solid ground tomorrow.
