MotoGP: 5-day week for Stefan Bradl
Normally a 5 day week is reserved for ‘normal people,’ however, Stefan Bradl will get a taste of this life this week.
Stefan Bradl is a busy man this week, taking part in the two-day Portimao test on Wednesday and Thursday, before leaving Portugal early on Thursday to arrive in Le Mans in time for FP1 on Friday, continuing to replace the injured Marc Marquez.
Bradl will do the two-day test, then the three day race weekend in France, a tough week for the German given how physically demanding the Honda RC213V is. He has said he hopes to find the ‘little things’ to help improve the Honda which aside from Takaaki Nakagami, has spent most of the season at the back of the grid.
He has ridden at Portimao before when he raced in the World Superbikes championship for Honda, therefore will have a better understanding of the track than the other riders there meaning he will be able to focus more on getting the job done and gaining information, rather than spending 30 laps learning the track.
The German has said that he expects to test the transmission, electronics and tyres to collect information to help Marc Marquez who will be expected to have returned and the other Honda riders to find their way around the track much easier. This season it is very close, therefore every hundredth of a second counts.
