MotoGP: Andrea Dovizioso ‘unemployed’ – “it was a bet with friends”
Andrea Dovizioso is using a new bum patch this weekend instead of his normal ‘Undaunted’.
The patch reads ‘unemployed’, a nod to Dovizioso who announced he will split with Ducati at the end of 2020 with no Plan B, meaning he currently has no ride for 2021 and is ‘unemployed’.
Dovizioso explained that he lost a bet with friends which he expected to win, but Fabio Quartararo’s crash last weekend played into the hand of the friends of Dovizioso.
Following the loss of this bet, Andrea Dovizioso contacted Alpinestars who changed his bum patch for him to the ‘Unemployed’ patch, keeping it a secret.
Dovizioso used it on Friday also, but nobody noticed this until a shot was taken of him leaving the pits in FP3 with the patch clearly displayed.
When asked about it, Dovizioso explained, “I used it on Friday and I wanted to see who would see it first, it was a bet with friends and I have to put it there.
Before Misano 1 they said, ‘if you lead the championship after this race you have to put that’ [the patch] and I said yes ok because I did not expect to lead it but it was a funny moment.”
Dovizioso’s humour clearly showing this weekend at Misano 2, poking a bit of fun at Ducati also.
Epic @AndreaDovizioso, absolutely epic! 😂
