Moto2 Valencia FP3: Raul Fernandez on top going into QP

Raul Fernandez leads, Gardner finished in P10!

Raul Fernandez led the way heading into qualifying later today as his teammate and fellow title fighter Remy Gardner finished up in P10 making his way into Q2 by just 0.100 from the dropzone in P14, the pair will be pushing all they can to qualify in positions aiding them in their title fights. For Raul Fernandez he must qualify on pole position or at least on the front row as the only way he can win the title is to win the race, this shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the Moto3 and now Moto2 pole hound who seems to collect pole position watches for sport. On the other side of the garage Remy Gardner must aim to qualify as high up as possible without risking a crash, he cannot afford to qualify further down the grid and risk being collected by another rider in the tussle and bustle of the opening laps of the race, basically, Raul must put it all on the line and Remy can afford to chillax.

Vierge finished up the session in second place only 0.001 seconds ahead of Augusto Fernandez, the pair split by the smallest of margins possible until we see the inevitable 10,000th of a second marker added as the lap times get closer and closer every session, the top 29 of this session split by just 1.3 seconds.

Sam Lowes finished up in fourth place leading Fabio Di Giannantonio whose form seems to be doing a Portimao this year going up and down like a rollercoaster, hopefully he can finish up this season in a strong manner ahead of a MotoGP class move for 2022 on the Gresini Ducati.

Taking seventh place behind Marcel Schrotter was Marco Bezzecchi who is another MotoGP graduate moving to the VR46 Ducati team in 2022, Ramirez finishing only 0.001 seconds behind in his last race on the Kalex before he moves over to the MV Agusta machine, I am sure he is thrilled by this prospect.

Just ahead of Remy Gardner is the incredibly rapid rookie Celestino Vietti with Jorge Navarro, Cameron Beaubier, Tetsuta Nagashima and Aron Canet who secured themselves a Q2 spot.
