Alex Marquez remains with Gresini Ducati for 2025 season
Alex Marquez has extended his partnership with Gresini Ducati for the 2025 season, as Gresini will also remain as a Ducati satellite team.
The younger Marquez brother joined the premier class back in 2020 with Repsol Honda, also partnering his own brother Marc. However, incredibly difficult times for Honda would hit, when Marc had major injuries for the 2020 and 2021 season. Alex would leave Honda at the end of 2022, joining Gresini Ducati.
Alex has delivered much success to Gresini, taking victory in the 2023 British Grand Prix Sprint Race, and another Sprint victory at Sepang last year as well. In the main Grands Prix, Marquez achieved two podiums in Malaysia and Argentina, marking Gresini as a strong and frequent challenger for the podium.
In 2024, this time it would be Marc coming to join Alex at Gresini, the pair reuniting as teammates once again, and forming a strong team lineup. However, Alex has struggled somewhat so far in 2024, a best result of sixth in Qatar as we approach the summer break, Alex will be looking to build on what was an impressive season in 2023.
Whilst his brother Marc will depart Gresini, moving to the Factory Ducati squad next season, Alex is still a frequent contender for the Top 5 in just his second season with the Italian manufacturer.
MotoGP is slowly but surely confirming the grid lineup for 2025, with the aforementioned Marc Marquez joining the Factory Ducati squad, as a ripple effect has happened – Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin joining the Factory Aprilia squad, as well as Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini joining Red Bull GasGas KTM Tech3.
This confirms half of the Gresini Ducati lineup, with one other seat available. With the Ducati machinery currently the most desired by a lot of riders, many will be clamoring at the prospect of riding aboard a Ducati next season.
