MotoGP Indonesia FP2: Yamaha go 1-2 after late time attack
Fabio Quartararo led a Yamaha 1-2 in Indonesia following a late time attack from the field.
It was a late time attack in Indonesia as the MotoGP riders pushed their machines to their limits to try and gain an advantage and a provisional Q2 spot, with rain predicted for tomorrow morning this could have already sorted out the Q2 and Q1 sessions for qualifying.
It was Yamaha who would come out on top thanks to a strong lap time from Franco Morbidelli which briefly led the session before his teammate Fabio Quartararo demoted him back into his #2 spot within the team, it was a Ducati affair from here as you’d expect with four Ducati’s following suit, the most important part of that being that last time out winner Enea Bastianini finished in P5 despite a late crash with many riders including Marc Marquez hitting the deck later on into the session.
Following the Yamaha duo was Johann Zarco then Jorge Martin, the Pramac Ducati boys showing impressive speed on the GP22’s ahead of the GP21 of Bastianini and Jack Miller bringing up the rear, his teammate Francesco Bagnaia sitting low down in P21 ahead of Marc Marquez in P22, both riders need to find something special tomorrow morning if they aspire to reach the Q2 session.
Aleix Espargaro placed in P7 leading the Factory KTM duo of Brad Binder then Miguel Oliveira, Alex Rins occupying the final Q2 spot after knocking out Andrea Dovizioso in the final moments of the session.
