Moto3 Portimao FP1: Deniz Oncu leads a quiet Moto3 session
Deniz Oncu leads a fairly uneventful Moto3 session as the lightweight class ride a wet track.
The Moto3 session was fairly uneventful with the young guns riding on a completely wet and damp track with many puddles littering the place, 6 riders didn’t even set a time due to the track conditions meaning the session was a write off for most of the field. Deniz Oncu was able to capitalise on this and take the top spot in the session ahead of Filip Salac and John Mcphee.
Andi Farid Izdihar was the fourth fastest rider nearly 6 tenths slower than Oncu as he and Darryn Binder lead Romano Fenati by a massive 0.600 meaning P1 to P6 are covered by 1.3 seconds, clearly proving we cannot realistically use anything we have seen from FP1 as an idea of how the weekend will go. Andrea Migno was the seventh fastest rider leading Sergio Garcia who qualified in P2 for the Doha GP, he has adapted incredibly quickly to the Gas Gas Moto3 machine and is within a shout for the race win this weekend.
Rounding off the top 10 was Tatsuki Suzuki and Yuki Kunii as Qatar race winner Pedro Acosta places in P15.
