MotoGP: Honda provide positive update on Marc Marquez

Honda have confirmed that Marc Marquez’s recovery is going well.

In a press release released on 12/02 Honda have confirmed that the recovery of Marc Marquez is progressing steadily, the news is a welcomed by many who have been so accustomed to bad news about the 8 x champion since his crash in the opening round of Jerez in 2020 when he crashed and broke his right humerus.

Since this crash, Marquez has undergone various surgeries and even a bone transplant in December after the broken bone was found not to be healing properly. Since this bone transplant, Marquez has been undergoing functional recovery to help ensure he will be able to race again this year after missing the entire 2020 season.

Honda’s update says, “A further review of Marc Marquez at the Hospital Ruber Internacional, 10 weeks after surgery for an infected pseudoarthrosis of the right humerus, has confirmed a favourable clinical situation. The medical team led by Doctors Samuel Antuña and Ignacio Roger de Oña, and including Doctors Juan De Miguel, Aitor Ibarzabal and Andrea García Villanueva, assessed the radiographic signs of bone consolidation and were satisfied with the progress. From now on, and during the next few weeks, Marquez will be able to progress steadily in the process of functional recovery of the operated arm.”
