Moto3: Alonso Lopez replaced by Adrian Fernandez in Max Racing
Alonso Lopez has been replaced in the Max Racing Team by Adrian Fernandez.
For reasons not fully confirmed, Alonso Lopez has been replaced in the Max Racing Team by Adrian Fernandez, brother of Moto3 race winner Raul Fernandez for the 2021 Moto3 season. Fernandez will ride the Max Racing Husqvarna Moto3 bike, it is rumoured that Lopez could not pay for the seat whereas Fernandez could which meant Lopez was ousted from the team, plus Fernandez has ties to the Husqvarna brand also after riding for them in the Moto3 Junior World Championship and supposedly being managed by a key member of the Husqvarna company.
Lopez currently is without a ride but has vowed to return stronger and better than before, the 19-year-old completed 3 seasons in the World Championship riding for Estrella Galicia on a Honda with a best result of P3 before moving to the Max Racing Team to ride the Husqvarna. He was a notorious crasher in 2020 with 7/15 DNF’s, however, it is thought this was not the reason his contract was terminated.
The Max Racing Team will also run Rockstar Energy Drink sponsorship for 2021.
