MotoGP Valencia: Francesco Bagnaia eyeing a podium finish
Francesco Bagnaia is eyeing up the podium this weekend in Valencia after some great feeling.
Francesco Bagnaia has had an incredibly strong start to his weekend taking P3 overall in the combined FP1 and FP2 sessions, finishing just 0.139 from his teammate Jack Miller in P1.
He has mentioned that he feels the track is very similar to Jerez and Misano, both tracks he had great races and results on, suffering a DNF in Jerez due to a mechanical failure in a podium position, before taking his first podium at Misano and leading the following race before crashing out on some debris on the track.
A strong start to the weekend bodes well for the rider who replaces Andrea Dovizioso in the official team for 2021, he has crashed out of the last three races and has set himself a target to finish the race with a goal of P6 or higher but does not feel that the podium is out of reach for him.
“I am very happy, we are working well,” said Bagnaia.
“This track is similar to Misano and Jerez, I think it’s possible to have a good race.
Starting the weekend like this [P3] is great, I have great feelings with the bike and I am very happy, we have good pace.”
“My feeling with the bike and team is very good.
I will try to finish the race, I can fight for the podium and will be as fast as I can, this weekend can be very good for us.”
Ducati are looking fairly strong this weekend with the Pramac boys in the top positions overall, not to mention Johann Zarco also showing some impressive speed, could we see our 10th race winner of the season this weekend?
