MotoGP: What can we expect from Le Mans?
Le Mans, a track where anything can happen, we look at what can be expected.
Firstly, rain, you can expect rain from Le Mans, a track where we have seen a lot of rain in the past, remembering the Le Mans 2012 125cc race where riders were crashing out all over the place, some riders crashing 3 times in the rain. Le Mans is famous for hosting wet races which is a good leveller.
Currently, Fabio Quartararo and Joan Mir are scrapping it out for the 2020 MotoGP Championship with Joan Mir on a bout of form in the last 5 races, therefore Mir will be looking to put in a great qualifying performance to give him an advantage in the race and potentially win on the home soil of Quartararo.
Fabio Quartararo will be racing his home race, therefore will be wanting to put on a show for family watching at home, plus extend his title lead after retaking this at Catalunya, the Frenchman has struggled this season since his two wins at the season opener of Jerez.
There will be many riders also out to prove a point, Francesco Bagnaia is on a run of form and following his Ducati announcement, he can knuckle down now and prove to Ducati that his signing was the right choice over Johann Zarco, but Andrea Dovizioso will also be looking to claw back some championship points, his DNF at Catalunya have meant he now trails by 24 points overall, Dovizioso took second place here last year and will be looking to do one better.
We cannot forget about the other players in the MotoGP tournament, Alex Rins scored his first podium of the season last time out at Catalunya following his injury at Jerez and will be aiming to assist his teammate in his title charge, this is not forgetting Maverick Vinales who is very up and down at the moment, he wants to get his demons off his back this weekend, a track where he took his first MotoGP podium.
What we can expect that it’ll be nothing short of great racing.
