MotoGP: MotoGP riders will take to track at Portimao this week on stock bikes with test riders
On Wednesday and Thursday this week, MotoGP riders will join the test riders on track for a test at Portimao.
Riding fully stock street bikes, a number of MotoGP riders will take to track on Wednesday at Portimao with confirmed test riders Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Michele Pirro and Stefan Bradl to get a feel of the Portimao circuit before MotoGP races there at the end of the season.
The reason the riders must ride stock bikes is that they cannot ride anything too close to their MotoGP bikes, this is because race organisers do not want them to get an extra advantage, Fabio Quartararo was caught out for this when he rode a pace prepared Yamaha R1 earlier this season and was docked 20 mins of FP1 for this mistake.
We will see riders on various machines such as Ducati V4R’s, Yamaha R1’s, Honda CBR1000R-RR’s and Aprilia RSV4’s, it is unconfirmed what KTM riders will ride, but Oliveira will likely ride his KTM liveried Yamaha R1 which you can see here.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team)
Jack Miller (Pramac Racing)
Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP)
