WSBK Catalunya: Chaz Davies wins as Garrett Gerloff takes maiden podium – Full results
Chaz Davies has taken the win at Catalunya in Race 2, dominating the race ahead of the two Yamaha’s.
Chaz Davies checked out of the race today leaving Yamaha to fight for the scraps, and fight they did. Michael van der Mark was the second place rider but he had to work for it, Garrett Gerloff was happy with third, but second was even better.
Garrett Gerloff is the first American podium finisher in the WSBK class since the late, great Nicky Hayden, battling all the way until the end today against Michael van der Mark to take home third place, but had second place in the last lap but defended too hard and lost second place.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi suffered heartbreak, he had fourth place in the bag until his Ducati broke down on him and he was black-flagged, handing fourth place to Jonathan Rea who has a chance to win the title next time around at Magny-Cours thanks to Scott Redding’s sixth-place finish, Rea now leads by 51 points, more than 2 races.
Jonas Folger had a stunning race once again starting from last to take home 11th place, incredible for the wildcard rider, putting his name into Yamaha’s notebooks for 2021.
