MotoGP Austria: Pol Espargaro riding angry
Following his tangle with Johann Zarco at Brno, Pol Espargaro is channelling his anger into riding his KTM RC16 at KTM’s home round
Pol Espargaro led the way in day 1 at Austria following a wet FP2 session with riders lapping 2.3 seconds off of the pace.
Speaking with Dorna Sports the Spaniard said “I felt pretty good from the beginning, this is a place where you need to brake quite late and our bike fits this riding style,” commenting on the strengths of KTM, Espargaro has said he feels the KTM is better than the Ducati in many areas in 2020.
“Today I felt good with good feelings and the lap times were strong from the beginning” continued the KTM rider. “We knew the conditions could be like that [wet] in FP2, also did everyone else so everyone put a new tyre but we were the fastest of all them and it is relieving.”
“We come from a very frustrating weekend [in Brno], today I went out looking forward to doing a fast lap and really pushing, I was angry riding, I will try to keep this spirit because it looks like it works so let’s see for the rest of the weekend,” Pol feels that he could have pulled off a great result at Brno with rookie teammate Brad Binder taking the glory instead.
